Even if you’re lucky to have room for a variety of appliances and equipment, this book will still give you some hints on how to eliminate the excess and make your kitchen more efficient. The recipes all sound amazing, but my personal favorites are pistachio dukkah, patatas bravas, garam masala chevre in a pita salad, and honey, chili, and lime chicken. The recipes use minimal pots and pans, have easy to find ingredients, and are clearly written. This would make an excellent gift for someone who is new to a small kitchen set-up or someone who prefers minimalism and having a few quality tools in the kitchen, rather than all the bells and whistles. However, the recipes themselves were more complicated that I want to tackle. The other problem is they often called for ingredients that I can't find when I'm living overseas. She also focuses on her basic essential tools needed for cooking fantastic meals. The recipes were for two people but can be upsized as needed. Most recipes are paired with beautiful color photographs. For me personally I thought the food would be simpler. A lot of ingredients were for foods I'm not familiar with in cooking. I often stay in AirB&Bs or places with kitchenettes when traveling and I was thinking the recipes would be more simple. The author knows her stuff and I would love to sail on her ship and prepare food for me. Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review. I barely knew how to cook, and the smallness of the kitchen gave me an excuse not to learn. It would be years before I discovered how satisfying cooking could be. I thought a lot about that kitchen as I read The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook, and in my imagination I filled those skinny cupboards, stocked the 1950s era refrigerator, and made good use of that crazy eight-inch deep countertop.
